Colin Parlett takes on top job at RMIF's Independent Garage Association
COLIN Parlett has been appointed interim chairman of the Retail Motor Industry Federation's Independent Garage Association (IGA) with immediate effect.
The appointment comes weeks after former boss Jonas Zambakides, of indpendent Porsche dealer JZ Machtech, unexpectedly stepped down from the role.
Colin, boss of CB Motors in Golders Green, said: “I have agreed to take on the challenge on an interim basis, pending the appointment of a new permanent Chairman.
“Having represented the RMI in the UK and Europe on a number of industry committees, I fully understand the needs of RMI members and the importance of representing their interests in all areas affecting their daily businesses.
“My personal goal during my chairmanship is to ensure that the needs of members are clearly communicated at all levels and that the activities of the RMI on behalf of its members are understood by the membership.
“I will be attending regional meetings to gauge the views of all members and allow us to formulate our strategy for the future.”
Rob Foulston, Chief Executive of the RMI commented: “This is an extremely important and challenging time for the independent garage sector.
“Colin is one of the sector's leading figures and we are very pleased he has agreed to lead the Independent Garage Association during a period of significant change and help us secure a solid team to take the Association forward on a day to day basis.”
