24 of the UKs finest technicians battle it out for a place in the final
The practical heats of the national skills contest took place at competition sponsor Delphi's headquarters in Warwick.
Heats took place over two days with 24 technicians facing a series of written and practical tasks under exam conditions.
Some of the problems regional finalists faced were non-start problems on a Toyota Avensis and Ssangyong Kyron, an ABS fault on a Nissan Micra and complete measurement tasks on a Toyota Yaris.
Top Tech regional finalists also faced written papers on hybrid vehicles, air conditioning systems and in-car multi-plexing.
The tests were judged by Ian Gillgrass of the Institute of the Motor Industry, 2008 contest winner Mark Banks and a team of experts from Delphi.
The regional finalists were selected after scoring highest in an initial question paper as part of the annual hunt for the UK's best technician.
